Make a Difference!
At 100 Kids Who Care Kawartha Lakes, we inspire kids to connect with their community and make a real impact. Together, we empower children to become advocates for causes they care about, learn the value of giving back, and discover how their time, talents, and treasure can create meaningful change—right here in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Here’s How it Works:
Kids attend the meeting to hear presentations from 2-3 of the nominated local charities or organizations that are doing great things in our community, and the ways their monetary donations can really make a difference to their operations, or a specific project.
The kids attending the meeting then vote on which organization should receive all of the funds raised at that meeting. The charity or organization receiving the most votes is announced, and given 100% of the donations raised that evening - right there and then.
Each child raises at least $10 to bring to the meeting. Having them earn their donation themselves, (helping their family or neighbours with chores, donating their allowance or birthday money, etc) has even more meaningful impact!
Sign your elementary school-aged (Kindergarten through Grade 8) kids up on the website for the next meeting - each fall and spring. Our goal is 100 Kids throughout the Kawartha Lakes to attend meetings that are interested in helping in their community!
Why Join 100 Kids Who Care?
Support Meaningful Causes
Meetings spark discussions about financial literacy, charitable giving, and how small actions can really add up to big change. It’s also a great way for your kids to meet peers with the similar interests!
Build Life Skills
Kids learn the importance of giving back in a hands-on, practical way, where they can actually see the impact they’re having by local community charities. They become champions for causes that matter to them.
Access Resources
Our website and social media accounts are full of great ideas year-round on community events, family giving, and helpful resources on small ways your kids can be involved in their community, on a consistent, but low-commitment basis!
DID YOU KNOW?
Every penny of the funds raised by the children goes to their non-profit of choice each and every meeting. Donations from the community, and sponsorships from local businesses are gratefully welcomed by the 100 Kids Who Care Steering Committee to contribute to operating costs of our organization.
